Homemade Polymer Clay
I got this clay recipe off the website below:
http://www.thriftyfun.com/tf681300.tip.html
Polymer clay can be expensive, but it’s so easy to make, and you can color it with food coloring. The best food coloring is the paste colors that cake decorators use. They last forever.
The recipe is:
ONE PART CORNSTARCH TO ONE PART WHITE GLUE (LIKE ELMERS GLUE).
That’s it. If you want it thinner, just add water. How Cheap Is That.

Editor’s Note: There were many questions about this recipe. Fortunately, Ardis submitted another tip that may help people understand the process. Here it is:
MAKE YOUR OWN POLYMER CLAY CHEAP
Mix equal amounts of elmers glue and cornstarch. Form it into your favorite form and let it dry at least overnight. If you want to make beads, leave a toothpick in it while it dries.
I’m a Raggedy Ann buff so I make round flat forms to make Raggedy Ann pins and magnets. I do the faces with fine tip permanent markers. I just need red and black for that. The forms can be sprayed with sealer that comes in a spray can meant for clay type crafts. It can be colored with food coloring too. The best food coloring is the paste type that’s used for cake decorating, and it lasts forever. How easy is this, Ha!
Additional Notes:
1. All Glue based clays should not be baked. They are air dry only.
2. The thickness of the glue will affect the type of clay you end up with. A fine thin glue will give you a look of porcelain.
3. You can add acrylic paint for the colour at the time you mix your clay.
4. Your options for colour are endless.
5. Projects will shrink. Keep this in mind
6. The clay will keep for months if wrapped tightly in the fridge.
7. Projects will last for years if kept dry.
8. Seal with Minwax water based varnish.(Gloss, Satin or matt) and they will survive forever.
9. OK. The glue is the polymer.
10. The cornstarch is the filler. Could be bread or flour or a mix of fine grain substances…. Salt, baking soda etc.
Could Gore Be a Contender?
From a recent post on Digg:
Winning the Nobel Peace Prize sparked all the Gore talk, which has also been fanned by a certain reluctance among many Democrats to embrace the current favorite, Clinton, or Barack Obama or John Edwards. Another plus for Gore is his position on the Iraq war. He warned against the war before it started.
The reason I posted this article isn’t because I supported Al Gore. This is a well-written piece about all the major Democratic candidates’ strengths and weaknesses, while comparing Gore to historic presidential runs. Gore has a good chance of winning the party’s nomination IF Hillary is derailed before February. After that he only has to run on star appeal against the party that took us into a war that is dragging put.
Hint Republicans: Start doing the will of the people. Either untie the militaries’ and border guards’ hands or pull out.
Man Kills himself over City Council Vote
According to breitbart.com and the AP an owned of local barbershop recently expanded his business. He requested that his home be zoned as commercial so that he automatic increase in his property value would allow him to get a loan and keep the business afloat. The vote was close but the request was denied. After the vote Ronald “Bo” Ward, the shop owner said, “Ya’ll have put me under … I’m out of here,” and killed himself.
The man was a coward. The fear of the mounting financial pressure made him think that death was the only way out. Its not. In the country we have the option of bankruptcy. Yes he would loose the business but he could start over.
We often put other gods before our true calling. Bo worshipped his business more then anything else. Worldly possessions bring only death. Its obvious his business wasn’t ready to expand or he didn’t have the skills to manage a larger business. Either one is arrogance and pride on his. This incident proved is that pride goes before the fall.
My condolences go out to Bo’s family.
