The Wii saga with NewEgg

At 2:35 I got a message that NewEgg.com has Wii’s in stock. But when ever you try to add an item to the cart you get this error over and over again:

A problem occurred during viewing shopping cart
Sorry,this gift item is part of a promotional special and cannot be manually added to your cart. If you’d like to receive the gift item, please add all required products to your shopping cart.

So after 10 minutes I got through to support and had this conversation:

Christina: Hi! Thanks for contacting us. How can I help you today?
Ervin: I’m unable to add a Wii console to my shopping cart. What am I doing wrong?
Christina: Right now we are having website issues. Please give it about 5 minutes and you should be able to add it.
Ervin: Is there a waiting list in the event you sellout because of this issue?
Christina: No at this time.
Ervin: Will there be one?
Christina: Not that I know of.
Ervin: Can a transcript of this conversation be sent to my email address including your employee number?
Christina: You can copy and paste. I don’t have a employee number but I can give you my first and last name. Christina *******

Finally after vigorously hit add to cart button until about 3:00 pm and got the dreaded ‘out of stock’ page even though a customer service rep told me they would be available in five minutes. So proceeded to go through the support chat to see if something had happened and had this conversation:

Amy: Hello
Ervin: Are you currently listed with the BBB?
Amy: Yes, we are.
Ervin: What is your BBB ID #?
Amy: I do apologize unfortunately we would not have that information.
Ervin: Who would I contact to get that information?
Amy: You would actually go to ” My account” then under customer service you would go to “information requests” and submit the request for that information there.
Ervin: How long do those request ussually take?
Amy: Generally it would be 24-48 hours.
Ervin: Thank you, also you are not running a waiting list for people who were unable to order Wii’s during the technical glitches?
Amy: I do apologize unfortunately the item is actually now out of stock. That is the reason you are unable to purchase the item at this time.
Ervin: Do you know when we will be able to order it?
Amy: Unfortunately due to the high demand for this particular item. We currently do not have an estimated time for the next shipment. I do apologize for the inconvenience.
Ervin: I’m sorry but your comment doesn’t make any sense. In the previous statement you said you have them in stock. In the current statement you now say they are ou of stock. Are they in or out of stock?

From there on I found out that the Wii were in fact out of stock. NewEgg.com, this does not reflect well on your support staff or your website. NewEgg, If you would like get a happy customer, please contact me at: me@ervinkosch.info and I will be glad to work out an equable solution.
