Air America radio host Randi Rhodes is temporarily off the air, but claims she was brutally attacked near her Manhattan apartment are bogus, her lawyer and a police source said today.

Claims have been flying around that Ms. Rhodes has been mugged while walking her dog. Further speculation was that the attack was by a conservative group or individual. All that is known is that Randi was recently injured. In early versions of her story she was attacked while walking her dog. She never filed a report.

If you put two and two together you get a classic case of spouse abuse. The victim makes up lies to cover what really happened. Said victim will usually not go to the police until the victimization reached a fever pitch and possibly threaten their life.

My alternatives plausible explanations include that wounds were either invited or self-inflicted. The resulting pain and sympathy gives the individual a needed emotional boost to add to their self worth. My final plausible explanation is that it could be something so mundane as she tripped down stairs while intoxicated and couldn’t face her fans or employers without a cover story.

Either way, please pray for Randi and that the truth will come out, because the truth will set her free.

Update 1: I thought I would check out what the ‘blogospehere’ had to say about the incident. The rumor going around now is that Randi was intoxicated and fell, causing the injuries.
