Hijacking a bill

Posted in Politics by me on the October 4th, 2007

I get news from some vary unusual sources. One of my random news sweeps came up with this beauty so early in the morning by Red Pills:

Back on September 28th I posted regarding Beck’s ignorance of HR 2640, the Veteran’s Disarmament Act. He had invited the NRA Executive Vice President Wayne LaPew, er, LaPierre, on to his radio show and Wayne then went on a BS tour of how the NRA (National Rifle Association) had hijacked the McCarthy anti-gun bill and how good the bill was for veterans, etc. You can read the NRA propaganda here, the actual language and details of the bill here, and the GOA (Gun Owners of America) objections to the legislation here.

“Wayne LaPew,” thats so funny I forgot laugh. A couple of things caught my attention. First off I AGREE with something this red pill guy said.

…Wayne (LaPew hahahahaha) then went on a BS tour of how the NRA (National Rifle Association) had hijacked the McCarthy anti-gun…

I admit I added in the ha ha’s in. Anyways I’m not big on anti-gun bills but the fact that another bill was hijacked for the NRA’s agenda is wrong. I say give the bills an up or down vote as is and be done with them. Committee is meant to enhance a preexisting bill, not completely change its focus.

Hijacking is what has killed debate on hundreds of good (and bad) ideas. Its ridiculous to think that a special interest group can hijack a pre-existing bill and make it do what they want it to. I support the ideals of the NRA but this tactic is just wrong. It wrong for the NRA, big oil, the environmentalists, MoveOn.org, ect..

The other thing that Red Pills said was:

The more I listen to Glenn Beck, the more I realize that this man is a danger to himself and more importantly, a danger to the rights of many thousands of Americans, oh, and he has chapped lips.

How is he a danger to himself or others? Is he abusing drugs or purposely going out and hurting people? No, he’s expressing his opinion, which runs contrary to yours. Glenn also has a national forum and a thousand time the audience you have.

Accept what he is, someone whom the majority of people agree with, and “move on” to making more meaningful posts (LaPew hahahahaha). Oh, and stop making wild eyed allegations like he’s a danger to anyone and stick the facts.   Your arguments will go a lot further.

Re: “Wayne LaPew,” thats so funny I forgot laugh. … obviously you are bereft of a sense of humor. Your problem, not mine.

The problem Ervin (no wonder you don’t like people making fun of names…LOL) is that the NRA did not hijack the bill. It’s BS. Apparently I was unable to make that point clear to you.

Beck is a danger to himself:
    1. yes, there is a certain amount of hyperbole in that statement but it’s not untrue.
    2. he’s a danger to himself based on his history (if you don’t know it then learn it before you open your yap) and the fact that he admits that without God’s help he would screw everything up..his words not mine…as mentioned in a previous post of mine re: Beck…http://www.redpills.org/?p=379
    3. danger to others as he stiffles debate and thus the truth…even when informed of the other side of the argument. Yet many depend on him for their information. I believe that makes him a danger to us all since those people then potentially go out and affect public policy.

    Get over yourself Ervin (ahhhhahahahahahaha!)
